NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON SPECIAL ASSESSMENT ROLL

ROLLING ACRES SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICDT NO. 4

 TOWNSHIP OF RIVES

JACKSON COUNTY, MICHIGAN

TO: THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS OF THE TOWNSHIP OF RIVES JACKSON COUNTY, MICHIGAN, AND ANY OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS:

Please Take Notice that the Supervisor and assessing officer of the Township have reported to the Township Board and filed with the Township Clerk for public examination a special assessment roll prepared by them covering all properties within the Rolling Acres Special Assessment District No. 4 benefited by the approved drainage and road improvement plans for Azalea Drive, Rives Township, Michigan. The assessment roll was prepared for the purpose of assessing the full costs of the improvements shown on engineering plans filed in the Clerk’s office, 348 E. Main Street, Rives Junction, MI 49277. The full assessment as shown on the roll is in the amount of $102,050.00.

Please Take Further Notice that the Assessor has further reported that the roll was created and the full assessment divided evenly between all parcels of land within Rolling Acres Special Assessment District No. 4 as the method for assessing each parcel in the district as the benefit to such parcels bear to the total benefit of all parcels in the said district.

Please Take Further Notice that the Rives Township Board will meet for public hearing on the roll to hear and review written objections. The public hearing will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020 at 6:00 pm via a Zoom virtual meeting hosted by the Rives Township Board. The Zoom link to join the hearing is: zoom.us/j/841-772-8092.

Please Take Further Notice any person who wishes to object to the assessment roll shall do so in writing by filing same with the Township Clerk either before or during the meeting. Paper and writing materials will be provided at the hearing for anyone who wants to file written objections to the roll. After the hearing is complete, the Township Board may confirm the roll as reported or as amended at the meeting, refer the roll back to the Supervisor for revision, or annul it and direct a new roll to be made.

Please Take Further Notice that the proposed assessment roll for Rolling Acres Special Assessment District No. 4 is on file with the Township Clerk and may be examined during regular business hours of the regular business days until the time of said hearing, and will also be available for examination at the hearing. Appearance and protest in writing at the hearing to confirm the special assessment roll is required in order to appeal the amount of the assessment to the Michigan Tax Tribunal. An owner or party in interest, or his or her agent, may appear in person at the hearing to protest the roll in writing, or may file his or her appearance or protest by letter, and personal appearance shall not be required.

Please Take Further Notice that the owner or any person having an interest in the real property who protests in writing at the hearing may file a written appeal of the special assessment with the Michigan Tax Tribunal within 30 days after confirmation of the roll.
